Matopos or Matobo National Park is a World Heritage Site just 35km from the city of Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. This picturesque park is dotted with granite boulders and kopjes balancing onto of each other. This unique scenery leaves you wondering how all of these balancing granite boulders are staying upright.

The park is home to Black and White Rhinos and we get the opportunity to get up close and personal to White Rhinos. Our experienced professional guides provide us the opportunity to enjoy these magnificent creatures from ground level and on foot. We get within meters. You can hear your heart pounding as you creep closer to the largest rhinos on earth!

The park not only has wonderful wildlife, but is home to tens of thousands of cave paintings created by the 'San' or 'Bushmen' people. These cave painting have been dated to more than 30 000 yrs old. The park has the best cave paintings created by these intriguing people in possibly all of Southern Africa. Our knowledgeable guides have us captivated about the 'San' and their way of life. A guided cave painting tour is a definite must when visiting Matopos.

Our final hour of the day is spent listening to stories of Cecil Rhodes at his grave site at a location called 'The View of the World'. We finalise our experience of Matopos National Park with the setting of the sun and re-exploring all that we have learnt at this spectacular location.
